So we began to look for a high quality, attractive, yet unobtrusive meditation timekeeper that would do everything a timer could do to support us in our practice. After a long and unsuccessful search, we decided to combine our decades of experience in meditation, electronic engineering, and industrial design to create the Universal© meditation timer.
Unlike most alarm clocks and timers, which command attention with grating rings or electronic chimes and buzzes, Universal© timers provide gentle balanced sounds that remain true to the stillness of meditation. In fact, inside each Universal© meditation timer, there is an authentic tuned brass temple bell!
We listened to other meditators – from highly experienced to those new to meditation, both here in New Zealand and overseas – trying to get a clear sense of what our customers wanted. Then we designed the Universal© meditation timer with all the premium benefits that meditators like you asked for.
For example, a surprising number of people told us that they often wasted precious time during meditation distracted by thoughts that their timer might have stopped working. So we added a discrete light that lets you know for sure when your timer is on and still timing. And we put all the control buttons on the front so you don’t have to keep picking it up to turn it on or to change modes. Our customers asked for more accurate time settings, so we designed the Universal© timer to make it easy to set your meditation period in 1 minute increments up to 99 minutes.

The Universal© timer now has two programs to support your practice - Meditation and Interval.
Meditation Mode is for single periods of meditation. Three bell chimes mark the beginning of your meditation and two chimes gently bring your session to a close.
The simple press of a button changes your Universal© timer to Interval Mode which gives you six equal periods of time (1-99 minutes each) - perfect for staged (or mettabhavana) meditation, yoga, bodywork, and mindfulness practice.
In either mode, after the final two chimes, you don’t have to do anything as your timer will automatically turn off, saving battery life. And next time, it will start again in the same mode that you used last time.
But it isn’t just about keeping time. To further support you in your practice, we approached a highly respected Yoga and Qigong teacher and asked him to devise a series of gentle movements to help you develop a new sense of physical ease during meditation.
